VIDEO UPDATE: Vicar of Spalding speaks of shock and sadness over today’s triple shooting
The Vicar of Spalding, the Rev John Bennett, attended Spalding Police Station this afternoon when police chief inspector Paul Timmins read out a statement.
Little fresh information was revealed about the shootings but Mr Bennett spoke to our reporter, telling us he learned of this morning’s tragic events from the Bishop of Lincoln.
• The Vicar of Spalding, the Rev John Bennett, has spoken of people’s shock following this morning’s tragic shooting.
Mr Bennett told us: “The news of a shooting and three deaths near the Castle Sports Centre has deeply shocked everyone I have spoken with this morning and will have made an impact on the whole community of our town and beyond.
“Spalding is a good and safe place to live, and there will be great sadness around what has happened today.
“I join my colleagues in all the churches of Spalding in praying for those affected by the shooting, for the families of those killed and for the emergency services.”
