Bourne Town travel to face Atherton Laburnum Rovers in the fifth round of the FA Vase
Bourne Town are gearing up for one of the biggest matches in their 142-year history on Saturday.
The Wakes travel to face Atherton Laburnum Rovers in the fifth round of the FA Vase.
It is the furthest Bourne have ever progressed in the national competition which culminates in a final at Wembley Stadium.
The massive match is a last 16 tie with the prestige and importance increasing with each game in the competition.
Manager Michael Goode said: "It's a huge game for us.
"With the FA Vase at the start of the season, you just take each game as it comes and you never know who you're going to meet.
"It's great the further you go and getting anywhere near the end product is the pipe-dream.
"We're at that stage now so we'll have a right good go at it whatever happens."
Bourne's FA Vase run started at the end of August with a 3-2 home victory over United Counties League rivals Harrowby United at the JJ Mac Stadium.
That was the Wakes' only home tie in the competition with away wins following over Blackstones, Long Buckby, Market Drayton, Northampton ON Chenecks and Sutton United (Birmingham).
Bourne also had a flurry of away matches from September until November due to a changing room refurbishment project at the Abbey Lawn.
Goode commented: "We've been brilliant away this season.
"We've been good at soaking up the pressure and hitting on the counter attack."
Hosts Atherton play in Division One North of the North West Counties League and are currently in second place, a point off top spot with three games in hand.
They have won their last six games and have taken 31 points from a possible 36 in league matches at their Crilly Park ground this season.
Although playing at the lower step six level, boss Goode feels the Greater Manchester side will be a tough challenge for the Wakes.
He added: "They are a very good step six and they are in the last 16 of the FA Vase so they are obviously going to be a decent side.
"They will be physically strong and they're probably a step six side who, if they played around here, would be step five.
"We are still confident going into the game. We've got plenty of fire-power and we haven't had Tom Siddons available for some of the earlier rounds and he's playing really well at the moment while Will Bird got another goal on Saturday."
Bourne are unbeaten in 18 games in all competitions and hope to have both Shaun Archer and Aaron Eyett available for selection again.
However, they will be without their central defensive duo of Brad Marshall and Richard Jones due to one-match suspensions.
