Bourne Town beat Deeping Rangers in the United Counties League Premier Division North

Bourne Town completed a derby double over neighbours Deeping Rangers to cap a perfect night for the United Counties League club on Wednesday evening.

The Wakes ran out 3-0 home winners over the Clarets to claim their second success of the Premier Division season against their near neighbours.

Martin Tudosa, Zak Munton and Henry Dunn netted the goals to help the Wakes make a winning return home in front of a bumper midweek crowd of 577.

A changing room refurbishment project had seen Bourne on their travels for the past two months and the Wakes made the most of their new comforts by despatching a rejuvenated Rangers side.

Bourne shaded the opening exchanges with Munton seeing an early effort deflected wide from Tudosa's through ball.

The Wakes then made the breakthrough in the 13th minute as Zac Allen arrowed in a low cross that was converted by the incoming Tudosa.

Rangers responded by forcing a succession of corners with Dan Dougill seeing a header deflected over the home crossbar.

Munton lifted a chance over the bar for the hosts from another Allen centre before Scott Waumsley screwed an effort wide when well-placed to meet Bryan Adiado's cross.

Bourne then lost influential centre-half Richard Jones to injury but Brad Gothard slotted in seamlessly alongside Brad Marshall while Kyle Rowell came on to negate the threat of Deeping dangerman Matt Sparrow as the Wakes held their lead at the break.

With just a slender goal margin separating the two teams, the start to the second half was always going to be crucial.

Deeping introduced the experienced Tom Waumsley but it was Bourne who took the game by the scruff of the neck.

Munton was foiled by a close range stop from debutant Deeping goalkeeper Niall Shackleton who was then called into action to thwart both Allen and Munton.

A second goal looked on the cards for Bourne and it duly arrived in the 51st minute when Munton timed his run to perfection to meet a pinpoint cross from Will Bird and head his side into a commanding position.

Rangers rang the changes in a bid to get back into the match and substitute Will Barnes drilled an effort over after a marauding run from Will Moxon.

Allen was denied at the other end by a brilliant block from Spencer Tinkler before Rangers were reduced to 10 men.

Jonny Lockie had only been introduced a handful of minutes earlier when he continued to air his grievances at referee Istvan Mod after not being awarded a free-kick on what he felt was a foul following a strong challenge from Dan Flack and his short stay on the pitch was cut short by the match official.

The dismissal ended any outside hopes of a Deeping comeback and Bourne wrapped up the win in style with five minutes remaining.

Substitute Henry Dunn surged forward and, after spotting Shackleton off his line, clipped a sublime finish into the top corner of the net.
