Lincolnshire Premier League round-up




Sam Evison excelled on the opening weekend of the Lincolnshire Premier League campaign to help Bourne make a winning start to the new season.

Evison plundered 17 fours and nine sixes in a 78-ball 150 as Bourne beat Grimsby Town by seven wickets at the Abbey Lawn.

The visitors had been bowled out for 254 after electing to bat first with Yavi Ranaut the pick of the Bourne attack with 2-28 from his six overs.

Evison then took centre stage in the Bourne reply as the hosts passed their target inside 30 overs with the opener leading their charge.

Jordan Temple added a further 26 while Jonny Cheer was unbeaten on the same score at the close of the opening day season.

Market Deeping were beaten by nine wickets in their home match with reigning champions Scunthorpe at Outgang Road.

Opener Josh Smith top-scored with 71 while Sam Jarvis added 57 in a second wicket stand of 115 as Deeping were dismissed for 206.

Priyanshu Khanduri then cracked an unbeaten 115 in the Scunthorpe reply after blasting 14 fours and six sixes in a convincing win for the title holders.

Spalding suffered a seven wicket home defeat against Bracebridge Heath at Seas End Hall after being bowled out for 114.

Nilantha Atapattu was their top scorer with 34 after openers Ollie Dring (20) and Jon Manton (28) had got Spalding off to a steady start.

Ben Whitehouse took 6-26 for Bracebridge who wrapped up the win inside 24 overs.

Newly-promoted Burghley Park started life at the higher level with an excellent 51-run home success over Sleaford.

Pete Foster smashed an unbeaten 117 which featured 15 fours and five sixes as Burghley posted 267-6 from their 50 overs.

Ewan Williams made a half-century while Michael Hobbiss hit 37 with Ryan Gilmour adding 30 in a strong Burghley batting performance.

They then dismissed Sleaford for 216 with Mo Azhar leading the Burghley attack with 5-31 from his 10 overs.

Grantham and Lindum were the other opening day winners as they defeated Woodhall Spa and Nettleham respectively.
