Bourne Town beat Holwell Sports in the United Counties League

James Hill-Seekings scored a hat-trick as Bourne Town opened up a 14-point lead at the top of the table with a victory at Holwell Sports on Tuesday night.

Hill-Seekings' treble was backed up by goals from Henry Dunn and Zak Munton as the Wakes ran out 5-2 winners in the United Counties League Division One match.

They had to overcome an early setback as Holwell hit the opening goal after just five minutes when Isaac Hutton scored from a free-kick following a foul by Matt Cox.

However, Bourne soon started to create chances as Hill-Seekings was thwarted by former Wakes goalkeeper Alex Brown following Munton's cross.

Brown then did well to deal with a dangerous free-kick from Zac Allen before Will Bird went close with a back post header.

The equaliser finally arrived in the 27th minute with Hill-Seekings the provider as he beat his man out wide before crossing for Dunn to head home at the near post.

A second goal then followed two minutes later as Hill-Seekings fired Bourne ahead from Munton's cross.

Munton fizzed another effort just past the post on the stroke of half-time as Bourne finished the opening period on top after a slow start.

They quickly picked up where they left off nine minutes into the second period when Hill-Seekings again finished well to make it 3-1 after some fine build-up play from Dan Flack and Bird.

Holwell did cut the deficit again just past the hour mark when Aristides Cunha converted from the penalty spot.

However, Bourne had restored their two-goal advantage by the 77th minute when Munton tricked and teased the home defence before rifling home his finish.

The win was wrapped up in the 84th minute when Hill-Seekings completed his hat-trick with Bourne's fifth goal.

Robbie Ellis saw his shot deflected into the path of Hill-Seekings and Bourne's top scorer made no mistake to seal the win.

The match was the first of four back-to-back away games for the Wakes who travel to face Sandiacre Town on Saturday.
