Bourne Town face Clipstone in Division One of the United Counties League

Bourne Town manager Michael Goode wants his side to treat Saturday's table-topping tussle as just another game.

The Wakes host Clipstone in the battle of the top two teams in Division One of the United Counties League.

Goode's charges currently hold a nine-point advantage over their second-placed Mansfield visitors who inflicted the only defeat of the season so far on Bourne in the first meeting of the campaign between the two teams.

The Wakes boss said: "It's a massive match and we'll obviously be going out to win it like we do every game.

"But we're just treating it as another game and we just need to keep looking after ourselves.

"We will need to be better than when we went to Clipstone because we were poor all through the team.

"I don't think anybody had a good game so we can only be better and this is a chance to right some of the wrongs from that day."

Bourne will be boosted by the return of Matt Cox, Shaun Archer and Josh Edmondson who all missed the weekend win at Radford.

The Wakes were 2-0 winners after a tricky trip to Nottingham thanks to an own goal and an effort from Will Bird.

The victory means Bourne go into Saturday's clash having taken 19 points from their last seven games after their only defeat at Clipstone.

They have beaten Radford twice, won at Lutterworth and Blackstones while also recording home wins over Gedling and Kirby Muxloe.

Their only draw came a fortnight ago when they needed a last-gasp equaliser through James Hill-Seekings' penalty to share the spoils with Saffron Dynamo.

Goode added: "We were a little bit flat in the Saffron game and there was an element of tiredness in a small squad.

"The game against Blackstones on Boxing Day had taken a bit out of us because mentally you're preparing for that game for quite a long time with all of the rivalry there.

"We didn't have enough in the tank which was disappointing but we've had a decent return of points from the last seven games which you have to be pleased about."

Saturday's visitors Clipstone are also unbeaten in their last six league games, having taken 14 points from a possible 18.

They have scored five goals in each of three of those victories and were 4-3 home winners over play-off chasing Harrowby United on Saturday.

The Cobras have two of the five top five marksmen in the division with Gareth Curtis and Ryan Ingram having netted 23 and 22 times this season respectively. Hill-Seekings is Bourne's top scorer with 17 goals while Zak Munton has 14 and Bird 11.
