Bourne Town score 12 goals in their United Counties League Cup victory over Dunkirk

There was a goal bonanza for Bourne Town on Wednesday night as the Wakes netted a dozen times in their United Counties League Cup victory over Dunkirk.

Michael Goode's side eventually ran out 12-3 winners in the first round clash against their Division One visitors.

Zac Allen and Jack Wilson both hit hat-tricks for the Wakes while newcomer Maniche Sani and Will Bird also struck twice.

Aaron Eyett and Zak Munton completed the scoring spree for the Wakes who are now unbeaten in their last 11 games in all competitions.

The cup clash was played at Blackstones due to the changing room refurbishment project that is currently taking place at the Abbey Lawn.

Bourne needed just three minutes to break the deadlock as Bird beat several Dunkirk players before slotting home his finish.

Dunkirk got back on level terms when Daniel Odunaiya latched onto a long ball before finishing in a one-on-one.

However, former Peterborough Sports player Sani had restored the advantage within five minutes when he tapped home a Wilson cross from close range.

Wilson then rattled the post before he teed up Allen who rounded the keeper to increase the advantage.

A fourth goal followed shortly after when Allen was sent racing clear to score his second in as many minutes.

Dunkirk cut the deficit with a fine free-kick from Chris Neilson but Bourne had bagged their fifth goal before the break when Sani was on hand to convert after Allen's shot had been well saved.

A rampant start to the second half saw Bourne blast five goals within 16 minutes to hit the double figure mark.

Wilson headed home a Dan Flack cross to make it 6-2 before he finished off another effort after a cross had been blocked.

Allen curled home a 25-yard free-kick to complete his hat-trick before Bird made it nine when he converted Munton's cross-come-shot.

A composed finish from Eyett took Bourne into double figures before Wilson completed his hat-trick with 20 minutes remaining.

Munton rifled home a free-kick for Bourne's 12th goal before Dunkirk added their third late on through Jake Fitch.

The scoring spree means Bourne have netted 17 times in two games in the cup competition after a 5-0 home win over Gresley Rovers in the last round.

They return to Premier Division North action on Saturday with a trip to face Kimberley Miners Welfare.
