Gainsborough Trinity look to avenge an earlier season 4-0 loss against Ilkeston Town when they welcome The Robins to The Northholme tomorrow in the Northern Premier League Premier Division clash
Tomorrow, (Saturday, December 8) will provide a good opportunity for a team to get revenge against a side that beat them convincingly last time the two met.
If Gainsborough Trinity do manage to get the win against Ilkeston Town, it will also get them much needed points on the Northern Premier League Premier Division table.
Gainsborough are keen to show Ilkeston who is the better team after Town defeated them 4-0 last time they played.
The Holy Blues who currently sit in 16th out of 22 are ahead of the relegation but will be looking to establish some more breathing space away from the danger zone.
With Ilkeston coming off a poor run of form with just one victory in their last seven — it creates a good opportunity for the home team to capitalise when they welcome the team from Derbyshire to The Northholme for a 3pm kick-off.
The Robins sit in 11th position but are only four points ahead of Trinity who, if the home team are successful will close the gap to one and potentially leapfrog several teams in the process.
This could include the side who defeated Trinity 3-1 last week, FC United of Manchester.
Gainsborough seem confident of getting a result at home but have said the visitors have players that Trinity need to contain.
"Their star striker and fan favourite Jamie Walker is a player that we need to watch closely," said a spokesman from Gainsborough Trinity.
"Walker has scored 12 this season and has netted over 50 goals for the Robins in his career so far.
"Despite not scoring in his last three outings, Walker is not a player to underestimate and the defence needs to be up for the task."
At the other end of the pitch, The Holy Blues identified another threat to their side that will need to be taken seriously.
"Another key player for our opponents is their captain, the experienced and versatile midfielder James Perch.
"The 38-year-old can play in defence as a right back or centre back but is mostly known as playing as a number six, where he is highly skilled at conducting the midfield.
"Perch has played at a very high level in his career starting off at Nottingham Forest where he made around 190 appearances and netted 12 times after coming up through their youth ranks.
"He then made a move to Newcastle United where he spent three years of his career scoring just one goal in his 65 appearances.
"After playing at clubs like Wigan Athletic and Queens Park Rangers, he then moved to Scunthorpe United where he spent two years making 71 appearances and scoring four.
"He then ended up at Ilkeston after a stint at Mansfield.
Admission Prices for the game are £13 adults, £9 concessions, and U16s £5.
A programme will also be available to purchase for £2.50, with Dayle Southwell gracing the cover and Lewis Butroid dishing the dirt on some of his former team mates and his current crop of colleagues.
