Bourne Town are beaten by Wisbech Town in the United Counties League
Bourne Town saw their 13-match unbeaten run in all competitions end at Wisbech Town on Tuesday night.
The Wakes went down to a 1-0 reversal in the United Counties League Premier Division North clash.
Sam Bennett - who was playing under dual registration from Spalding United - scored the winning goal for the Fenmen.
Bourne missed a twice-taken penalty late on in the game as they were beaten for the first time since August 13.
Bennett headed home what proved to be the winning goal midway through the first half of the match at the Fenland Stadium.
Chances had been in short supply in the opening period with Bourne creating the better openings after the break.
Substitute Robbie Ellis fired wide from the edge of the box before home goalkeeper Will Lakin get down well to save a Zak Munton shot.
Aaron Eyett flashed a free-kick wide before the Wakes were reduced to 10 men with five minutes remaining when Ellis was sent off after collecting a second caution.
They looked set to salvage a point when Munton was brought down in the box in the 87th minute by Lakin.
The goalkeeper kept out Will Bird's first effort but the penalty was ordered to be retaken with the referee ruling that Lakin was off his line.
Bird struck his second spot kick against the post and Bourne's hopes of maintaining their fine run were ended.
Bourne's attention will now turn to the FA Vase on Saturday as they visit South Midlands League Division One side Long Buckby.
