Bourne Town beat Newark and Sherwood in the United Counties League Premier Division North
Bourne Town maintained their unbeaten away record in the United Counties League on Tuesday night ahead of a flurry of fixtures on their travels.
The Wakes were 4-2 away winners at Newark and Sherwood in their Premier Division North clash.
They have now won three and drawn two of their away matches following their promotion back to step five of the non-league pyramid.
And that will stand them in good stead for the run of away games after a changing room refurbishment project got underway at the Abbey Lawn this week.
Seven of Bourne's next eight games are all away from home with the Wakes currently just one place outside the play-off spots.
They took just three minutes to break the deadlock on Tuesday night as Brad Gothard converted a free-kick from Zak Munton.
Munton twice went close to increasing Bourne's tally before Zac Allen shot wide after rounding the home goalkeeper.
The Highwaymen looked to make the most of the let off and had a header cleared off the line following a corner.
They then got back on level terms midway through the first half when Jamie Williamson headed home a Kieran Cummings corner at the back post.
Bourne responded well with Jack Wilson bringing a good save out of home goalkeeper Ross Woolley while Allen sent a diving header wide of the Sherwood goal.
The Wakes then regained the lead five minutes before the break when Allen curled home a sublime free-kick to give Bourne the advantage at the break.
Munton came close to extending the lead early in the second half as his shot went just over the home crossbar.
However, it was the Highwaymen who netted next as they equalised for a second time in the 52nd minute when Kameron Campbell tapped home following a deflected cross from Koby Thompson.
It took Bourne just four minutes though to move back in front again as a strong surge forward from Martin Tudosa was followed by an inch-perfect cross for Munton to tap home.
A fourth goal followed four minutes later as Allen cut inside before drilling home a trademark left-footed finish.
Bourne continued to create chances with Allen again shooting wide after rounding Woolley who then made a crucial save following a corner.
Munton dragged another effort wide before the home side were reduced to 10 men for 10 minutes when Jamie Goddard was sin-binned.
Woolley tipped an Allen free-kick to safety before Kole Lambert shot wide for the Highwaymen who were denied a third goal late on when Bourne goalkeeper Dan Swan made a fine save to deny Williamson.
Bourne now face an FA Vase tie at Blackstones on Saturday.
