Isn’t it a shame that the policeman who so diligently threatened to take Sophie Lindley’s bike from her if she rode on the pavement again, can’t be as diligent when it comes to stopping grown men and women from riding their bikes on the roads around Grantham, in the dark, without lights.

I had to check my calendar this morning to make sure it wasn’t April 1, after reading in Friday’s Journal about the policeman stopping his car to inform a father that his four-year-old should not be riding her little bicycle on the pavement, and that he would be watching to make sure she got off the bike.
