Nick Ash from W&P Legal Sixty 4 Sixty Challenge

A fun day has raised more than £1,000 in support of a man’s personal charity mission.

The event at Deepings Sports and Social Club in Towngate East, Market Deeping, took place on Saturday (July 27), when the sun shone on attractions that included a fire engine from the local station, children’s face painting, inflatables and games, dance demonstrations, and a visiting princess.

The day was one of a number of activities supporting ‘Nick's Sixty 4 Sixty Challenge’.

The director of Deepings-based W&P Legal Will and Probate Services, Nick Ash, aims to raise £60,000 this year for Dementia UK and a new charity, The Loving Legacies Foundation.

W&P Legal compliance manager Kiera Thorold and marketing manager Sophie Ward organised the fun day with the help of colleagues, particularly Claire Clarke and Natasha Baxter. Natasha created a popular ‘human fruit machine’ for the event.

Sophie said: “The day was a success from start to finish and we’d like to extend a huge thanks to Market Deeping Fire Station, Beyond A Princess, El Ajolote Mexican Food, Gino, Rutland & Stamford Sound and all our brilliant stall holders for helping us put on a fantastic day.

“We’re also grateful to Dream Dance Deeping, Penelope’s Zumba and DSKC Deeping Shotokan Karate Club for their demonstrations, and for our sponsors and raffle prize donors.

“The total amount we managed to raise was £1005.87, which we’re really pleased with, and it seems a great day was had by all - the sun shone for us and we have had some lovely feedback.”

Nick’s fundraising page can be found here.

His challenge to raise £60,000 around the year of his 60th birthday was inspired by his dad, Fred, who lived with dementia and Parkinson’s before his death in April.
