“Give it a couple of minutes for the wheelie bin to warm up!” Police drone locates suspected Gainsborough burglar’s rubbish hiding place




A suspected burglar was caught by police after a drone spotted a ‘wheelie bin warming up’.

Officers were on the lookout for their target following a burglary believed to have taken place in the early hours of September 16 at the Ropery Road Social Club in Gainsborough.

Lincolnshire Police Drones shared an image from their pursuit, using a thermal camera, on social media.

“When a suspect goes to ground and Gainsborough Police have a containment on. Give it a couple of minutes for the wheelie bin to warm up,” they wrote.

Police say the two people have now been arrested following the incident.

“A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of burglary and has been released on bail while enquiries are ongoing,” a spokesperson said.

“The burglary was believed to have taken place in the early hours of September 16 at the Social Club on Ropery Road, Gainsborough.

“A woman in her 20s has also been arrested on suspicion of burglary, and she has been released on bail.”
