14 per cent fewer young adults in work around Grantham




New unemployment figures released show a 14 per cent increase in unemployment of those aged 18-24 in South Kesteven.

Overall, unemployment in the district has risen five per cent over the past year. However, over a five-year period, the number of 18 to 24-year-olds not in work has decreased by five per cent.

In the East Midlands as a whole, unemployment has dropped by seven per cent over the past five years, with a 23 per cent decrease in the 18-24 age group.

Grantham Jobcentre is offering several courses with the intention of helping residents find a job, including basic IT and warehousing and storage courses in February and a confidence-building course in March.

Grantham College are also holding a Careers Fair on 4th February, where the job centre will be present.
