£350k classroom block officially opens at Ancaster Primary School

A new £350,000 classroom block has officially opened at Ancaster Primary School, easing pressure on ‘over-subscribed’ school places.

The new facilities, funded by Lincolnshire County Council, means the school will now be able to accommodate 20-25 more pupils.

The school’s headteacher, Sam Eden, said: “Many year groups are over-subscribed so this helps to relieve the pressure in the school and provide a top quality learning environment for the benefit of the children and the teaching staff.”

The main refurbishment involved a new modular build – the first of its kind in Lincolnshire. The project has been managed by the county council in conjunction with contractor Kier.

Other work, separate to the project, has seen the main school building refurbished and redecorated over the last few months.

Councillor Patricia Bradwell, executive councillor for children’s services at LCC, said: “As well as providing the school with proper learning facilities rather than mobile classrooms, this also addresses local pressure for school places.

“We’re proud of our extensive range of schools in Lincolnshire and are committed to supporting improvements to facilities where there is a need and funds allow.”
