A spectrum of emotions

The Journal took me through a spectrum of emotions last Friday (August 3).

Hysterical belly laughs, as I learned that Maggie Thatcher, Commie Basher seemed to be the new rhyming couplet with which we should retrospectively rewrite history!

Pride, as I read of fund-raiser Steve Atkin raising money for St Barnabas Hospice, a most worthy cause.

Disbelief at the £141k payoff (and subsequent appointments on massive salaries) made by SKDC, supposedly for our benefit.

But most of all love and admiration for the parents of Naomi, the selfless Michelle and Dean, who turned an appalling tragedy into something of beauty to remember their daughter by, raising thousands on innumerable occasions in her name and for the benefit of so many.

Politics drives us mad, but the selfless acts of such fellow humans as Steve, Michelle and Dean are a shining beacon to us, restoring sanity and setting an example we might all take tiny steps to emulate.
