Work on an all-weather car park at Belton House near Grantham has been completed
Works to create an all-weather car park at Belton House have been completed.
The all-weather car park works at the National Trust property have been completed “ahead of schedule”.
Plans were submitted early this year to create the new car park to solve drainage issues in the previous layout.
A spokesperson for Belton House said: “Work to create an all-weather car park has finished, ahead of schedule, which means we're parking on a hard surface for the first time.
“Work is continuing at Belton on further improvements, such as: new paths, tree planting, refurbishment of the existing visitor reception building, a new changing places toilet, and new ticket kiosks.
“A final decorative spray & chip surface finish will be added to the roadways in spring 2024, when the weather conditions improve."
Initial plans submitted by the National Trust faced opposition as it proposed a one-way system into the car park, using the Lion Gates as an entrance.
However, the National Trust withdrew these plans and submitted revised plans without this proposal, and these were later granted planning permission.
