Pupils at a village school watched in awe as 10 chicks hatched before their very eyes.

Ancaster Primary School have been learning about new life as part of their ‘We are alive’ topic.

They provided embryo eggs which were a couple of days from hatching.

They arrived in incubators that are specially designed for classroom hatching.

Mr Eden added: “The children were able to sit and watch as each of the10 eggs hatched within 24 hours of their due date. Each class were able to visit the chicks every day during the first week and the chicks spent a day in each class during the second week. They even learnt some technical vocabulary. Everyone was in awe of these living, breathing chicks.”
