Antiques valuations at Grantham’s Downtown store to raise funds for Cancer Research UK
Downtown Grantham will be hosting an antiques valuation event next weekend to raise funds for a cancer charity.
The superstore, on Gonerby Moor, is inviting people to ‘dust off those antiques that may be hiding in the attic and find out their true value’.
The event is on Saturday, August 20 between 10am and 4pm, and Sunday, August 21 between 11am and 4pm.
Everybody is welcome to bring along their gold, silver, jewellery, watches, ceramics, paintings, collectibles and antiques to be valued by one of the expert team from Hansons Auctioneers and Valuers in exchange for a £3 donation, with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.
Special guest Charles Hanson will be there on the Saturday from 10am to 1pm. Charles is a regular on the BBC shows Bargain Hunt, Antiques Roadtrip and Flog It!, as well as being an experienced antiques expert and auctioneer. He will be joining his team to give valuations.
Hansons and Downtown hope to help uncover some hidden treasures, whilst also raising as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK. The charity is Downtown Grantham’s charity of the year, as voted for by employees at the store.
Store manager Lisa Bracey said: “Cancer affects so many people and many friends, loved ones and colleagues have been touched by it.
“That’s why, at Downtown, we’re committed to raising as much money as we can to help beat cancer sooner.”
