'Authentic' Italian set for Monday Grantham opening

An authentic Italian restaurant opens in Grantham later this month.

Amore Mio, which means ‘My Love’ in English, replaces the former New Era restaurant, which closed recently due to a sudden spike in its business rates from zero to almost £20,000 a year, following a rates revaluation

The premises at 23 Westgate are currently undergoing renovation and are being made smaller so it can qualify for zero business rates, as a small business.

Antonio Reynoldina is UK-born, but his family originates from near Naples.

He and wife Ann, have been in the restaurant trade for 25 years, having had restaurants in Birmingham, Louth, Melton Mowbray and then Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, for the past four years.

The couple moved to Grantham two years ago and on discovering “a lovely town with beautiful buildings and great people”, they decided to open a business here.

The site became available, following the demise of the former New Era Restaurant, owned by Deependra Khati and Geeta Gest.

Amore Mio promises fresh pasta, fresh fish, pizza, steaks and chicken dishes, home made desserts and an Italian Company in London supplying ‘real’ Italian ice creams. The chef will also be ‘a real’ Italian.

The restaurant opens on Monday, June 25, from 9am and will serve until 10pm.

Promised are baguettes, panini, pizza, pasta and a range of lunchtime specials, in addition to an evening menu. There will also be ‘Dean Martin-style’ live music once a month.
