Ballet stars officially name Grantham dance studios

Three superstars from the world of ballet and contemporary dance visited DancePointe and Chantry School of Contemporary & Balletic Arts to officially name three studios.

It may seem unlikely to find Deborah Bull, Robert Parker and Dominic North all at the same dance studios in Grantham, but that is exactly what happened on Sunday.

The three dance celebrities pledged their support to DancePointe and Chantry School of Contemporary & Balletic Arts by officially giving their names to each of three studios located in the DancePointe building. Now dance students can take classes in ‘The Robert Parker Studio’, ‘The Deborah Bull Studio’, or ‘The Dominic North Studio’ – something which will inspire the next generation of young dancers.

On the day students from DancePointe and Chantry School performed a showcase for the guests of honour and an invited audience, of solo and group routines in the different styles of dance they study, including contemporary ballet and acro-dance.

Deborah Bull, a former principal dancer with the Royal Ballet, said: “I so admire the work that Chantry Dance and DancePointe are doing here, making a real difference to young people – you see it on their faces when they perform, it was fantastic.”

After the showcase the guests were introduced to the audience and they were presented with their name plaques and signed pictures that are now on proud display at the studios.

Robert Parker, a former principal dancer with Birmingham Royal Ballet, added: “It’s encouraging to see how much energy and passion they all have.”
