Balloon release to mark one year since death of Grantham motorcyclist

The family and friends of a man killed in a motorcycle accident last year will release balloons to mark one year since he died.

James Weston, 27, was killed when his Honda motorcycle was in a collision with a Honda Jazz car on Grange Lane, in Balderton, on May 16 last year.

The expectant father’s sudden death caused shock around Grantham, where he had a successful career as a self-employed plumber and was a popular local figure.

James’ father, Pete Weston, said: “We wanted to do something that his children could look back on and remember him by. We will be releasing the balloons at 18.34 – the exact time that the crash happened.”

Pete and his partner, Sandy, have also booked an early morning hot air balloon ride to mark the anniversary. “It’s our way of being as close as we can to him,” he added.

The balloon release will be held at Pete and Sandy’s house in Stainby on Tuesday.
