Belvoir Hunt confirms it will return to Grantham this year for its traditional Boxing Day meet
The Belvoir Hunt will return to Grantham for its traditional Boxing Day meet this year.
The Hunt has confirmed with the Journal that it will meet for the second time at Riverside Pastures. Traditionally the Hunt has met in St Peter's Hill, but last year Mayor of Grantham Coun Lynda Coutts refused to meet the Hunt and the Mayor's parlour was closed.
The venue was switched last year to Riverside Pastures and was well attended by members of the public including a large contingent of anti-hunt protesters.
In a statement to the Journal, the Belvoir Hunt said: "The Belvoir Hunt will meet at Grantham Riverside Pastures on Boxing Day following their very popular meet held there last year. For those who wish to see the spectacle of horses and hounds but are perhaps away visiting friends or relatives in different areas, details of other Boxing Day meets being held across the country are available on The Countryside Alliance website (https://www.countryside-alliance.org/boxingdaymeets).”
