Boogie-ers hit dance floor at grown-up disco in Grantham

“Grantham can boogie,” summed up a grown-up disco in Grantham on Friday night.

Around 170 party-goers threw shapes in the ballroom of the Guildhall Arts Centre to soul, disco and pop sounds of the ‘70s and ‘80s.

The event was organised by Upfront Promotions.

Managing director Simon Stanford said: “It’s official, Grantham can boogie!

“An enthusiastic, sell-out crowd of boogie-ers came to dance at our first-ever Discos for Grown Ups night at the Guildhall Arts Centre.

“The floor was full from the first to last record, dancing to my ‘70s and ‘80s disco, soul and feel-good pop tracks... all on vinyl.

“Everyone got free glow sticks and ‘70s sweets on arrival.

“There was a friendly and fun atmosphere and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.

“The highlight for me was seeing everyone down on the floor doing the famous dance to the Gap Band’s ‘Oops upside your head’.”

Pleased with ticket sales, Simon has booked a second Disco for Grown Ups on Saturday, April 18.
