Bottesford residents rally together at community litter pick
More than 35 people became volunteer litter pickers as part of a village clean up last week.
Members from the Friendly Bench, Bottesford, Co-op Member Pioneer, Belvoir Cricket and Countryside Trust, U3A and Bottesford Youth Club joined forces with members from the church and community to spruce up the village’s parks and play areas.
They managed to collect 20 bags of rubbish including more than seven bags of recyclable waste.
The event was organised by Lyndsey Young, founder of The Friendly Bench. She said: “It was a fantastic turn-out. People that have lived in the village all of their lives got to know people who had just moved there, including two ladies who joined in specifically to get to know some new friends.
"We also had some young members of our village help out, including 10 from Bottesford Youth Club as well as children who accompanied their parents.
“It was a brilliant evening and something we will do again soon.”
