Newton House Care Home residents visit Lovely Loaves in Grantham for baking session




Care home residents from Grantham visited a baking barn to make cakes and scones.

Residents of Newton House Care Home, based in Barrowby Road, visited Lovely Loaves’ Baking Barn in Londonthorpe.

A member of the home’s activitiy team said the residents “had so much fun”.

They added: “Lel, Janet and the residents baked and decorated some extremely impressive cupcakes and the most delicious scones!”

Lovely Loaves started back in 2016 as a mobile bakery teaching service, which moved its classes to the Baking Barn in High Road back in 2019.

One resident, called Mike, worked as a pastry chef and he taught celebrity chef Marcus Wearing in his younger years.

He said that the activity “meant the world to him” and brought back “the most beautiful memories”.

He added: “It was the best morning I’ve ever had”.
