Care home residents enjoy fine dining
Residents of a Grantham care home have been given the pleasure of a fine dining experience.
Residents of Avery Lodge Care Home are given the experience twice a year. Last Friday evening they and their guests, who had previously booked a table, were welcomed into the lounge by members of the care home team and served with canapes and prosecco. They then proceeded to the ‘Balmoral Bistro’ usually the home’s dining room, which for this occasion had been transformed into a candlelit restaurant with beautifully laid tableware and flowers.
Guests were served Amuse-Bouche, followed by three delicious courses accompanied by fine wines with coffee and petit fours to finish.
Allan Brazier, Food and Dining Director with the care home’s owners brighterkind, said: “We believe that if you eat well, you live well. Our menus are tailored to promote good health but in addition it is the social and psychological aspects of eating in a fine restaurant sitting alongside your family and friends that makes this event just as important for our residents.”
ResidentThelma Fitton said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed this evening. The waiter service was exceptional and the food was delicious. I used to dine out regularly before I came to live at Avery Lodge and being able to dine alongside my friend has been very special indeed.”
A spokesman for brighterkind added: “During the evening, every team member was involved in some way and they all worked extremely hard but their enjoyment comes from seeing the joy and happiness on the faces of the people they care for every day. At brighterkind we believe every day is an opportunity to be involved in all the little moments of kindness that help make life feel brighter. Sharing time, conversations and special occasions like this means everyone contributes something different.”
