A church is hosting a day of creativity which includes a Q&A with a crime writer.

St Lawrence’s Church in Sedgebrook will be hosting visitors over the weekend as part of the Lincolnshire Heritage weekend.

The church is open on Saturday between 10am and 4pm, and usually gets around 100 visitors from all over the county.

The theme of the event is creativity and will centre around a display of literary links from the middle ages right up to the present day.

This includes a question and answer session at 2pm with crime writer Helen Golden.

Jenny Stuart, reader at St Lawrence Church, said: “Enjoy a feast of psalters, elegies, murder mysteries and whodunnits – proven links to writers John Donne, Francis Beaumont and George Crabbe.

“Enjoy the museum with the fascinating history of the Upright Judge and war memorabilia and a display/sale of local art, jewellery, lotions and potions, and crafts.

“There will be teas in church all day to make sure nobody goes hungry or thirsty!”

There will be free colouring and craft activities for children and adults, as well as a brand new giant fuzzy felt for people to complete to make a bible story.

Jenny added: “There will be the first chance to see the new children’s book about St Lawrence Church featuring the Markham Bear (who will be there in person).

“The book has gone to print and we shortly hope to launch it with a Teddy Bear’s Picnic where the children from the nursery will bring their teddy bears and enjoy a picnic in church.”
