Community rally around to knit pouches, nests and blankets for Australian wildlife injured by fires
The Friendly Bench Bottesford Community Group has led an appeal for knitted koala mittens and joey pouches to help wildlife affected by the Australian bushfires. More than 26 people from Bottesford, Grantham and Harlaxton contributed to the cause.
Lyndsey Young, founder of The Friendly Bench, said: “We had a great response, in total we had over 40 knitted and sewed blankets, 40 knitted joey pouches, seven knitted nests, six bat wraps and five pairs of koala mittens.
“It was humbling to see such kindness from people across our community and wider, everyone doing their bit to support the animals and those caring for them over in Australia. We have now delivered them to Paws Across the Oceans who will be sending them direct to the organisations in need in Australia.”
