Bythams Community Shop in Castle Bytham receives National Lottery Community Fund grant

A shop run by villagers has secured a grant which guarantees its future.

Bythams Community Shop in Castle Bytham has been awarded a grant of £50,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund which will be paid over the next two years.

“We are immensely grateful and excited about the National Lottery Community Fund,” said Stephen Barratt, chairman of the shop’s committee.

“This grant acknowledges the huge amount of hard work by staff and volunteers and will make an enormous difference to the future of the Bythams Community shop.

“As the shop grows, its importance also grows, not just for the Bythams but for all our surrounding villages and the passing visitors and cyclists who use our shop and increasingly popular café.”

The grant will be used to fund the day-to-day operation of the shop, which is run by volunteers, and to guarantee its long term sustainability.
