Coronavirus: Engineer donates protective screen to Grantham Hospital to protect NHS workers
An engineer has donated a large protective screen to Grantham Hospital to protect key NHS workers.
Jamie Clare, owner of Iconic Engineering, donated a large protective screen to one of the departments in Grantham Journal, and is appealing for donations to continue providing vital PPE to key workers.
Using a 3D printer to create this essential equipment, Jamie has also donated full face shields to the South Manchester Crisis Response Team, as well as PPE to Grantham care homes such as Apple Tree and Newton House.
So far, £1,560 has been raised, with donations also allowing Iconic Engineering to provide free materials to other individuals or organisations with 3D printing capabilities.
Jamie said: "We are trying to get more donations to build PPE and other similar bits or protective equipment for the hospital and nursing homes but we can't afford to fund it all ourselves. any assistance is great.
"We are looking for small donations to help purchase more 3D printing materials to help manufacture visors during the COVID crisis.
"We have also been asked to make screens to put inside hospitals where there is no protection for staff so some funds will go to making solutions for this.
"We need a stock of materials to hand out, free of charge, to individuals who want to participate in making these visors. We will be buying rolls of 3D printing plastics and consumables. These will be given away to other people or businesses who are making PPE. For example, bulk roll of filament will cost £40 and allow us to produce around 40 headbands.
"Thank you for considering to donate to this and if you have and even bigger thanks to you."
Jamie and his team were even given a police escort when delivering the protective screen to Grantham Hospital.
He continued: "We have successfully installed a protective screen in one of the departments at Grantham Hospital and we are looking for your support to do more of them.
"Help the NHS and give what you can and if you are not in a position to do that please share this fundraiser."
