A dramatic society hosted heritage walks around the town centre which included costumed performers that brought Grantham’s history to life.

The 45-minute walks started from the George Shopping Centre and proceeded around the town centre.

Along the walks, costumed performers from GDS brought Grantham’s history to life with a range of colourful characters, including Kings John and Richard III, Charles Dickens and Isaac Newton.

Mark Brown organised the walks and is treasurer for GDS said: "Grantham Dramatic Society enjoyed a great afternoon sharing the town’s history with those who joined the Heritage Walks, which tied in with the national Heritage Open Days scheme.

“44 people joined the walks, and we’re delighted to have received positive feedback, revealing that people learned a lot and discovered things they didn’t know about Grantham, but in a fun and engaging way.

"There were even more people who chatted to us during the event and got an insight into the characters without participating in a full walk.

“Many people were keen to see more events like this in future, and it was great to be able to link with Grantham House, where the walk ended, which was open to visitors too.

“If any individuals or groups are interested in taking part in a future walk, or joining GDS, please do get in touch via our website or social media accounts.”
