Court round-up: Grantham area defendants go before magistrates




Defendants brought before magistrates recently include:

Philip Derek Pledger, 43, of William Street, Grantham: admits stealing fragrances worth £216 from Boots in Grantham on October 26 and committing a further offence during the period of a suspended sentence. He was made the subect of a community order including rehabilitation, ordered to pay £216 in compensation and handed a suspended prison sentence of two weeks suspended for 18 months.

Paul David Humphreys, 40, of Belton Lane, Grantham: admits driving a Ford Focus in Sleaford on November 25 with 208 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood – the legal limit is 80 milligrammes. He was fined £500, ordered to pay a £50 victim surcharge and £85 costs and banned from driving for 20 months.

Kane Bobby Ashley Brackenbury, 26, of New Street, Grantham: admits causing £200 of damage to a window at a nearby property on January 22. He was told to pay £200 in compensation and £85 costs.

Carlos Miguel Garcia Leal, 32, of Swinegate, Grantham: admits having a kitchen knife in Norton Street, Grantham, on January 13. He was made the subject of a community order including an alcohol abstinence requirement for 90 days, made the subject of a restraining order prohibiting communication with three named individuals and attending any address they reside at, and told to pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Wayne David Wilkinson, 26, of New Street, Grantham: admits assaulting a woman by beating, damaging a mobile phone, fan and cabinet belonging to her and resisting a police sergeant, all in Stamford on January 13. He was made the subject of a community order including a ‘building better relationships’ course, made the subject of a restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim and attending any address she resides at, and told to pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Kerrie Frances Smith, 28, of Cambridge Street, Grantham: admits committing fraud by using a cash card belonging to another to make £24.74 gain, at Malthurst petrol station in Grantham on February 21, and again the following day to top up a mobile telephone with £20 of credit. Detention was deemed served by reason of time already spent in custody.

Chloe Truswell, 41, of land at the junction of Goadby Road and Grantham Road, Waltham on the Wolds: admits stealing spirits, clothing and bedding worth £300 from Sainsbury’s on January 27, stealing spirits worth £250 from Sainsbury’s on January 26, stealing spirits and groceries worth £600 from Sainsbury’s on January 25, stealing spirits worth £324.50 from Sainsbury’s on January 24, stealing spirits from Asda on January 21, stealing alcohol and groceries worth £400 from Sainsbury’s in Melton Mowbray on January 14 and committing an offence while under a community order made in December for eight offences of shop theft. Truswell was made the subject of a community order including drug rehabilitation and ordered to pay £937 in compensation.

Gordon Thomas Cant, 60, of Hamilton Road, Grantham: admits assaulting a woman by beating in Grantham on October 15. He was discharged conditionally for 12 months and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and costs of £310.

Nigel Wayne Gould-Martin, 55, of Welland Court, Grantham: admits driving a BMW in Grantham on January 18 with 54 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35mcg. He also admits driving while banned from holding a licence. Gould-Martin was fined £440, told to pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 costs and banned from driving for 36 months. He was also made the subject of a community order including a drink impaired drivers programme.

Alice Smith, 19, of Chilvers Close, Barrowby: admits two counts of assaulting a police constable by beating in Dysart Road, Grantham, on January 20. She was discharged conditionally for six months and ordered to pay £100 in compensation and a £20 victim surcharge.

Andrew James Kay, 28, of Alexandra Road, Grantham: admits stealing perfume worth £50 from Asda on December 28 and a Lacoste set from B&M Bargains on January 3. He was fined £40 and told to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Several defendants have been fined for dropping cigarettes. They are: Deza Kilgallon, of Buckminster Gardens, Grantham; Lisa Lisauskaite, of Grantley Street, Grantham; Charlotte Oaks, of Stamford Street, Grantham; Kieron Pestell, of Marratts Lane, Great Gonerby; Kerrie Smith, of Brook Street, Grantham; and Luke Wiltshire, of Market Place, Grantham. They were each fined £220 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and costs of £83.
