Customers queue early as Grantham’s first biltong production centre opens
Customers were queuing early as Grantham’s first biltong production unit opened for business.
Owners Rebecca and Gavin Smith said the turnout at the new Biltong Farm, in Bridge End Road, was fabulous.
The Mayor of Grantham Councillor Linda Wootten cut the ribbon to officially open the unit.
Staff from Grantham-based Oldershaw Brewery were on hand to help pair up various beers with different flavours of biltong.
There was also music from CJ Hatt and a number of stalls run by the Guides.
The couple set up Biltong Farm after moving to Grantham from London.
They have imported specialist drying equipment from South Africa, where biltong originated.
Afterwards, Mr Smith said: “The opening was very successful.
“Our products were flying off the shelves.
He added: “We have enjoyed steady trade every day.
“We’re very happy with the way our first few days have gone.”
