Grantham dance school achieves best ever results
A dance school has achieved its best ever results in competition.
Dancers with the Karen Chevalier School of Dance took home trophies from the annual National Association of Teachers of Dancing (NATD) North Midland Social Competitions recently held at Kirkby in Ashfield.
Karen, who has been teaching ballroom and Latin American dancing in Grantham and Barkston since 1990, said: “I was most proud because my school took both first placings for the ballroom and latin over 50 years events and my other dancers got into the finals and with high placings.
“These have been over best competition results ever.”
In the adults over 50 years Couples Waltz, Dominic and Sarah Lyons won the NATD Ballroom Tropy which they will keep for one year. Barry Raynor and Elaine Walsh came second.
Barry and Elaine won the NATD Latin Trophy Adults over 50 years Couples Rumba. Dominic and Sarah came third.
Dominic and Sarah also won the Adult Over 50 years Saunter Together Sequence trophy.
In the Over 50 years Cha Cha Cha Sarah was second, Elaine third, Barry fourth, Dominic fifth and Mel Huggins sixth.
Mel won the Over 50s solo dancing trophy.
Elaine won the Over 50 years solo Samba and received a trophy to keep forever, unlike the other winners who have to give back their trophies after a year.
Mel and Elaine reached the semi-finals of the Over 16 years Balmoral Blues (all adults from16 to 85).
Mel and Elaine were placed sixth in the Any Age Partnership (children & adults) Valentino Jive.
