Engineering firm ‘delighted’ to win bid to build Grantham bypass

The Birmingham-based engineering firm contracted to complete the first phase of Grantham’s long-awaited bypass, say they are ‘delighted’ and will ensure ‘minimum disruption’ to the public.

Yesterday it was announced Fitzgerald Civil Engineering have been awarded the £3.6m contract by Lincolnshire County Council, to build the first section of the Grantham Southern Relief Road, starting on Monday.

Fitzgerald’s managing director Nick Coley said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by Lincolnshire County Council to undertake the first phase of works for the Grantham Southern Relief Road. This is a significant scheme that will bring great benefits to the area, and we look forward to working closely with the Local Supply Chain and all stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of the project, whilst ensuring the minimum disruption to the general public.”

Established in 1948, Fitzgerald Civil Engineering have delivered major projects across the Midlands. This includes a £3.1m project to build new highway and access roads at the Silverwoods Park development in Kidderminster, and a £3.2m scheme to build a road, roundabout and bridges for a new supermarket in Leek.

The project is being led by Lincolnshire County Council and is supported by South Kesteven District Council, the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and local businesses.
