Grantham family recreate works of art using household items in global challenge
A Grantham family has taken part in a global art challenge to help stay connected during the coronavirus crisis.
Claire Gilbert, of Alma Park, Grantham, challenged her family from across the world to get creative and take part in LA-based Getty Museum challenge, which sees people recreating famous works of art with objects found at home.
She said: “I have family in Australia, France and the UK, however we are all still close and we set up a group chat two years ago to keep in touch.
“When we went into lockdown, I wanted to spread some fun and laughter so we all decided to take part in The Getty challenge.”
Claire’s family from across the globe embraced the challenge and have been recreating famous portraits using everyday household items including clothing, cuddly toys, cutlery and even pets - with some hilarious results.
Claire, a teaching assistant, added: “It has been absolutely brilliant. It has really brought us all together and created lots of giggles while making memories at the same time.”
Claire, 40, would now like to see other families in Grantham get creative and take on the challenge.
She added: “Children have had to contend with such a lot during lockdown. This is a great fun family challenge to keep spirits high especially with it being Mental Health Awareness Week.”
