Disgust as fly-tippers dump large pile of waste at Grantham beauty spot

A Grantham man has voiced his disgust at items he found fly-tipped at a Grantham beauty spot.

Former councillor and Mayor of Grantham Mike Cook took a photo of a pile of items he found dumped at Londonthorpe Wood this morning.

The items seem to be made up of bedding, including a mattress, pillows and a duvet.

Mr Cook said: "I cannot understand the mentality of these culprits."

The wood is the focus of a major project being undertaken by the National Trust and the Woodland Trust to open up 225 hectares of land for the public to explore in the future.

The project – which could cost up to £1.2 million – aims to link up two treasured visitor attractions to create a wide expanse for people to explore and enjoy.
