NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board to offer free blood pressure checks in county dentists and opticians
Dentists and opticians in the county will offer free blood pressure checks as part of a new pilot scheme.
The NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) announced the launch of the pilot to improve the early detection of hypertension by expanding blood pressure checks into community-based settings.
Dr Sunil Hindocha, medical director of the ICB, said: “This pilot service is a proactive step in addressing the challenges of hypertension case finding in our communities.
“By offering blood pressure checks through dentists and opticians, we’re meeting people where they are, removing barriers, and increasing access to essential preventative health services for those who need it most.
“Our hope is that this innovative approach will lead to earlier detection, improved management, and ultimately, a healthy Lincolnshire.”
The services will be available at:
• Dental Design Studio in Bridge Street, Gainsborough
• Burton Dental Lodge in Spilsby Road, Boston
• Community Dental Services in Lincoln and North Hykeham
• The Maltings Dental Practice in Commercial Road, Grantham
• My Dentist in Algitha Road, Skegness
• Enderby and Hallgate in 84 Wide Bargate, Boston
• Specsavers in Lumley Road, Skegness
• Specsavers in Morrisons, Tritton Road, Lincoln
The checks will be for eligible people over 40 years old, or people under 40 years old at risk of high blood pressure who may not visit their GP or pharmacy for regular checks.
People can request a free blood pressure check by speaking to a member at the practice. They do not need an eye or dental appointment.
