Fundraiser launched to support children of Grantham father-of-three who died aged 39
A fundraiser has been set up to help the three children of a Grantham man who died unexpectedly, aged 39.
Jim Finney passed away peacefully on September 5 after a short illness, leaving his three children, Daniel, Jack and Sienna.
Jim’s brother Ben Eley and sister Alice Wormall have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to support the children, and contribute to funeral costs.
Born and bred in Grantham, Jim was a passionate Leeds United supporter, and “lived for his kids”, according to his mother Jackie.
Jackie described her son as “happy” and “very jolly”.
“He was a big joker,” she added. “Jim always spoke to people, he was never rude.
“He had such a good smile. He was grey at 20, but it never bothered him!
“Hopefully we can get as much as we can for [Jim’s children] and to give him the best send off.
“Anyone who knew Jim is welcome at the funeral.”
The funeral takes place at Grantham Crematorium on Thursday October 5 at 11.30am, with family flowers only.
Donations to support the family will be gratefully received and can be given on the day.
Jim’s family requested that no red is worn at the service, but other colours, particularly blue and yellow, are encouraged.
Jim had siblings Ben, Alice, Tracey, Daniel and Lennon, his nephew who he considered a brother.
Ben said: “I have decided to set up this GoFundMe page to help his three children that [Jim] has left behind. The funds that are raised will be for their futures.
“Jim has sadly passed away at the young age of 39, which was very unexpected, leaving his three children aged 18, 17 and 15.
“As you can imagine, their worlds have been turned upside down with the sudden passing of their father.
“If Jim touched your life at all, please donate something, even if it’s just enough to have bought him one last pint.
“Every penny will help towards a send off and to helping his children for their future!
“If you didn’t know him and you want to donate too, then all help is appreciated.”

So far, over £1,600 has been raised.
