Garden centres reopen their doors to customers in Grantham
Downtown Garden Centre at Gonerby Moor and Belton Garden Centre are reopening this morning.
Both centres were closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, but have opened their doors this morning following advice from the government.
Downtown says its ground floor and outdoor areas are open to customers. The coffee shop upstairs will remain closed.
Its opening times will be 10am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
The store says it has a wide range of social distancing measures in place to keep customers and staff safe. It will be limiting the number of customers in the store at any one time and will not allow groups of more than two people, who must be from the same household, into the store.
There will be a designated queuing area outside the store and there will be sanitising wipes available for customers to clean the handles of trolleys and baskets. Perspex screens have been installed at checkouts and customers are encouraged to use contactless payment where possible, although cash payments will be taken if necessary.
Belton Garden Centre reopened at 9am this morning.
A spokesman for the centre said: ’We look forward to welcoming all our customers back to Belton. Two-metre social distancing will be in force throughout the centre, with hand washing, trolley wipes and protective screens installed. During busy times customers may have to queue outside."
Opening hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays.
