GCSE: Another top year at Walton
Students, staff, parents and governors at Walton Girls’ High School, part of the Diverse Academies Learning Partnership, were celebrating another year for top GCSE results.
Over 72 per cent of students achieved at least 4-9 grades in Maths and English, reflecting how hard both students and staff have worked to meet the challenges of the new GCSE grading structure.
In eight subjects including Biology, French, Music, Physics, Performing Arts, and Philosophy and Ethics, all students taking exams achieved a grade 4 and above - 85 per cent of grades were above grade 4 in English, and 72 per cent above grade 4 for Maths.
Overall attainment has increased in every subject, continuing the upward trend of the results of the academy over the last three years.
Outstanding individual achievements include, Elena Boby who secured two 9 grades, five 8 grades and two 7 grades.
Milena Poraj also did amazingly well gaining one 9 grade, three 8 grades and four 7 grades.
Amelie Pluta, Emma Cockfield and Charlotte Prime also made exceptional progress, working significantly above their expected grade. In some cases students achieved three grades higher than expected based on their KS2 SAT scores.
