Grantham band Ultra 90s performed at Katie Price and Kieran Hayler’s reception!
Despite bursting with excitement, a Grantham band has had to keep schtum about performing for one of Britain’s most well-known celebrity couples.
But now that OK! Magazine has finally published coverage of Katie Price and Kieran Hayler’s renewal of their wedding vows, Grantham’s Ultra 90s is shouting from the rooftops.
The glossy gossip mag has splashed 10 pages of pictures from the reception in its magazine out this week, and in it the band is pictured and they get a mention.
Katie was quoted in the magazine as saying: “We had Ultra 90s, who also played at our Willy Wonka-themed wedding in 2013. They do all the classics and got everyone dancing, as you can see from the pictures.”
The band – made up of Kelly Borkertas, Chris Wade, Simon Dring, Richard Lyon, Michael Latham, Charley Dade and Victoria Louise, with Michelle Borkertas as stage manager – met countless celebrities during their gig, from X Factor’s Sam Bailey to Katie’s fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemates.
And Kelly even sang with Katie herself! She said: “It was amazing!”
Then later, Chris took to the piano to accompany when Katie’s son Junior hit the stage to sing ‘I’ll Be There’ by the Jackson 5 with 90s pop star Kavana.
Meanwhile, drummer Simon let Junior and Princess – Katie’s two children with Peter Andre – have a go on the drums.
It was back in November that singer Kelly heard from Katie personally, having performed at Katie and Kieran’s wedding. She received an email from the former glamour model, and recent winner of Celebrity Big Brother, asking to meet.
And so in January Kelly and her partner, and band-mate, Chris Wade, travelled to Katie’s home. After a visit to the venue, they returned to Katie’s home...and were treated like family.
Kelly said: “Kieran made us egg sarnies! The weirdest thing about the whole day was that it wasn’t weird. It was like going to any friend’s house and having a chat and some tea!
“Katie is really easy to talk to, and very genuine.”
