Grantham car enthusiast opens garage and MOT testing station
A car enthusiast has turned his hobby into a reality by opening up his very own garage and MOT testing station.
Rory Mcbride, 30, opened RJM Motor Repairs LTD, formally known as RJD Motors or Spittlegate Garage, on Spittlegate Level earlier this month, specialising in everything from class 4 MOTs, service and repairs for all makes and models, tyres and tracking, air con re-gasing and diagnostics.
Rory, who lives off Springfield Road, Grantham, with his wife and daughter said: “I turned 30 this year and this was something that I always wanted to do.
“So when these premises came up for rent with good facilities already including car ramps and a waiting area, it was too good to miss.”
As well as MOT’s, RJM Motors can price match and offers fixed priced servicing.
The garage also boasts a cosy waiting area, coffee machine and free WIFI. They can also drop people off into town.
Customers can rest assure that their vehicles are in good hands as Rory already has plenty of experience in car repairs and vehicle maintenance spanning over a decade.
He started out as an apprentice for Peugeot before moving on to Midland Trade Centre, Tinda-Lee and Stoneacre, also on Spittlegate, where he worked his way through the ranks to become service manager in the service and parts department.
He is pleased with how business is going so far, adding: “Business has been picking up as people get to know that I am here. I have already received lots of support and a few jobs from some of the businesses around who already know me from my time at Stoneacre.”
Despite it still being early days, Rory has high hopes for the future.
He added: “I would like to take on two or three people to work alongside me and eventually it would be my goal to open up more garages in other towns.”
“But for now I am just pleased to have something of my own so I will be able to leave a legacy and make my wife and daughter proud.”
