Grantham carer receives outstanding service award

A devoted carer has received a special award for her outstanding service to caring.

Elizabeth Simpson has worked at The Orders of St John Care Trust’s (OSJCT) Gregory House home in Grantham for 23 years.

Her commitment to the home and its residents has not gone unnoticed among her colleagues and she was nominated to receive the decoration by the British Association of the Order of Malta.

Established in 1920, the award - also known as the Order Pro Merito Melitensi - gives recognition to members of the community who have excelled in their field.

Elizabeth was invited to receive the award from the President of the Order’s British Association, Richard Fitzalan Howard, at a special ceremony in the Brompton Oratory, London, last

month.

Elizabeth said: “I was very surprised to be nominated and it was an amazing and emotional day. The church ceremony was a very moving experience. I feel proud to work with everyone at Gregory House.”

Anna Lewkowicz, home manager at Gregory House, added: “Elizabeth’s compassion and caring service has been greatly valued at Gregory House. Many residents admire her calm and gentle nature, through which her professionalism shines.
