Grantham Clean and Green: Further CCTV installed along the banks of Grantham Canal
Further CCTV has been installed by Grantham Canal to help deter litter and fly-tipping in the area.
In January, South Kesteven District Council installed new cameras to build on work undertaken in 2013 and 2014 to improve the appearance of the canal and towpath from Earlesfield Lane to Trent Road. Now a further camera has been installed between Trent Road and Swingbridge Road.
Live images are transmitted from the wind and solar powered cameras to the council’s offices to monitor the area.
SKDC’s executive manager for environment Ian Yates said: “Residents in the district have welcomed the cameras. They provide added security to the area to prevent those who flout the rules on litter and fly-tipping.
“Very few individuals dump waste but the cameras are there to help show the minority if you dump litter or fly-tip in this area there is every chance the evidence will be collected and prosecution considered.”
