South Kesteven District Council is reminding residents staying at home and enjoying the Bank Holiday to recycle their unwanted items.

Sun cream bottles, drinks cans, plastic and glass bottles, food trays and plastic bags are among the common household items that can be recycled.

The full list of what can be deposited in silver bins and clear bags and black bins and pink bags can be found by visiting www.southkesteven.gov.uk/recyclinglist

Alternatively residents can request an SKDC recycling guide by calling 01476 406080.

Disposable barbeques cannot be recycled and need to be placed in black bins or pink bags once fully extinguished and larger garden furniture needs to be taken to Household Waste and Recycling Centres in Grantham or Bourne.

SKDC’s business manager for streetcare services Keith Rowe said: “We ask residents to take just a few extra seconds to check what they put in each bin or bag is correct. If in doubt check the website or give us a call to receive a recycling guide.

“For clothes or shoes either recycle them in your silver bin or clear bag or use local charity shops.

“The holidays are the perfect opportunity to show children what goes in each bin or bag and why being a responsible recycler is so important.”
