Grantham couple share their wedding date with royalty
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not the only couple to say "I do" last weekend.
Oliver and April Wood, who live together on Balmoral Drive, Grantham, also tied the knot on Saturday, after meeting at university seven years ago.
The couple met at Sheffield Hallam University when Oliver was studying Criminology and April was studying Business Studies and Marketing.
They moved to Grantham in 2013 and Oliver, 27, proposed to April in Times Square during a trip to New York, in March 2017.
April, 28, said: "I was so shocked as I never thought that Oliver would do it in such a public place."
When Prince Harry and former Suits star Meghan Markle announced their wedding in November last year, Oliver and April could hardly believe they had chosen the same day.
April laughed: "I thought how dare they book the same day, but we didn't mind really."
Oliver and April celebrated their nuptials alongside their family and friends at Pheasantry Brewery in Newark, a modern, yet traditional micro-brewery on a farm.
April said: "It was amazing. We enjoyed every single second. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. We had a coconut shy which went down well with the children - and adults. We had a rough schedule but it was very chilled out and everyone got to relax in the gardens. It was just perfect."
The couple enjoyed sharing their wedding date with the royal couple.
April added: "We were actually getting married at the same time as Harry and Meghan. We had the radio on in the wedding car and as I approached the venue, the radio host announced that it was just 13 minutes to go until the royals were due to marry. It was great to be able to join in their countdown but for my own wedding.
"It will be such a memorable day to look back on. The whole day was perfect. We felt like royalty too."
