Eight shop thefts have been admitted by a South Witham man who was subject to a community order.

Graham Slater, aged 30, of High Street, South Witham, received a community order from South Essex Magistrates’ court on January 29, 2014, but has pleaded guilty to stealing a range of items from various Grantham stores since then.

Slater appeared in court and pleaded guilty to stealing a joint of lamb and some baby milk totalling £29.59 from Sainsbury’s in Grantham on September 23.

At previous court appearences he has pleaded guilty to stealing razor blades to an unknown value from Sainsbury’s on September 18, on the same day he admits taking £69 worth of them from Wilkinsons on September 18, before stealing another three packs totalling £64 from Wilkinsons on December 1.

He has also pleaded guilty to stealing bottles of alcohol valued at £94 from the Co-Op on Princess Drive, a mirror from B&M bargains, shampoo from McColls and air fresheners from Wilkinsons on dates in September, November and December.

Slater also missed supervision appointments as part of his existing community order in November and December.

Chris Pye-Smith, defending, acknowledged that a pre-sentence report would be needed, and asked for Slater’s bail condition not to enter any retail premises in Lincolnshire to be amended so that his client could collect necessary prescriptions.

Magistrates adjourned the case until January 29 to give time for the report to be prepared, and amended the bail conditions so that Slater is permitted from entering the pharmacies Lloyds chemist and Boots in Grantham.
