Grantham Journal letters: Lane not suitable for lorries

I am writing in support of your correspondent, (September 21), complaining about lorries using Harrowby Lane.

The size and weight and speed of these vehicles makes them totally unsuitable for this road which was not constructed with this type of traffic in mind.

I live at the west end of Harrowby Lane which is narrow, steep and only has a narrow pavement on one side which makes exiting drives dangerous for residents particularly on the north side. The pavement is in such poor repair that mobility scooters regularly use the road and cars park on it rather than risk vehicles being damaged by a lorry speeding down the road which adds to the hazards faced by the many pedestrians who use this pavement on a daily basis.

I have emailed Richard Davies, (our potholes and Southern Relief road Supremo), asking if the size, weight, number and speed of lorries could be monitored and if he thinks they are appropriate for this LANE! Needless to say my email has not even had an acknowledgement.

Grantham
